| Gloversville, NY – June 13, 2005 – Ireland-based Taylor Made Glass & Systems, a division of Taylor Made Systems, announces the expansion of its tempered safety glass manufacturing operation and glass bending capability.
A Cattin machine, manufactured by the Tamglass Group and commissioned in May, is considered one of the largest of its kind in Europe according to Tom Peters, general manager of the Ireland operation. In addition, further investment has been made in glass machining centers to increase capacity. The furnace handles very large sheets of glass and is capable of producing low- to medium-volume complex curved tempered glass for the pleasure marine and off-highway industries. It will increase the bent/curved glass capacity of the plant by 50 percent and add 15 new jobs. Sales will be derived from its core markets in Europe. "This is all part of Taylor Made Systems' continuing investment in maintaining the capacity and process capability required by our customers," said Randy Parker, Taylor Made Systems president. "We have invested in excess of $10 million in the last five years to expand our glass fabricating capacity worldwide with specialized equipment dedicated to marine glazing needs. With the addition of this furnace, we now have a worldwide annual capacity of over 1 million pieces of tempered glass; from 3mm (1/8") to 19mm (3/4") thick, in sizes 2500mm (100") by 3000mm (120") wide, in a variety of colors, in large or small quantities.
