| GLOVERSVILLE, NY April 1, 2002 For 2002, Taylor Made Systems is introducing a new universal mounting kit for attaching boat covers.
The patent-pending VersaSnap uses a Velcro strip that runs around the base of the canvas, with moveable snaps to match up with the snap fixtures that are pre-installed on the boat. "VersaSnap requires no special tools to install, and allows almost unlimited capability for matching any boat's snap patterns," said Mike Oathout, vice president, sales and marketing, for Taylor Made Systems. "All you do is attach the Velcro-backed snaps to the fixed snaps on the boat, then press down the Velcro strip at the base of the canvas. You get a tight, snug fit without broken snaps and ripped canvas caused by misaligned snap patterns." Oathout stated that VersaSnap has been thoroughly field tested to validate its holding power and ruggedness. "The VersaSnap strip holds its grip on the snaps, even under extreme wind conditions," he said. "This unique system will simplify production for boatbuilders, since the canvas top can now be installed at the end of the assembly line without danger of misaligned snaps," said Oathout. "It also makes it easier for dealers to install replacement canvas tops as aftermarket accessories on virtually any model of boat." The VersaSnap universal mounting kit is designed to work with Taylor Made's patented FastBack tops as well as all types of traditional canvas boat tops.
