| GLOVERSVILLE, NY — March 1, 2002 — Taylor Made Systems today announced that the FastBack pop-up boat tent has been awarded U.S. Patent 6,286,449. FastBack is a lightweight, flexible "boat tent" that uses flexible fiberglass battens to hold its unique bubble shape. Inspired by mountaineering tent designs, FastBack more than doubles the usable living space in a typical express cruiser with over six feet of headroom. FastBack can be installed by one person in under five minutes with no special tools, without leaving the safety of the cockpit. When not in use, the cover and battens stow neatly into a 48-inch bundle for easy storage, leaving no hardware fixtures on deck. According to Mike Oathout, vice president, sales and marketing, "FastBack tops are being sold as factory-supplied OEM equipment by a growing number of U.S. boatbuilders. They are also sold as an aftermarket accessory by our sister company, Taylor Made Products, through marine dealers and distributors nationwide."
