| GLOVERSVILLE, NY — November 25, 2003 — The new power convertible top for boats from Taylor Made Systems was one of the 'must-see' items at this year's IBEX show.
The Taylor Made power-driven top is the first-ever automatic convertible top designed for production boatbuilders. It is similar in concept to the 'ragtops' used in cars, and was developed by Taylor Made to bring the same ease and convenience to the boating market. 'Since we unveiled the prototype earlier this year, we have been actively testing and refining the design,' said Mike Oathout, vice president, sales and marketing. 'As a result we have made some improvements in the overall function and design to provide smoother operation and snug fit. We have also added a number of new features, such as an automotive-style headliner, a positive locking system and a handheld push-button remote control.' 'Car makers have been making convertibles with automatic tops for years,' said Oathout. 'We decided that there was no reason this same technology shouldn't be used on boats as well.' The Taylor Made power convertible top is designed to be fitted by boatbuilders as factory-installed original equipment on boats 21 - 40 ft. Taylor Made Systems will work closely with boatbuilders to ensure that engineering, installing and testing the system are accomplished painlessly. The company intends to offer boatbuilders the convenience of a dedicated custom installation facility, where Taylor Made specialists will install the power convertible top, windshield and other associated components to ensure a good fit and trouble-free performance. Oathout revealed that Taylor Made Systems is working closely with several boatbuilders to incorporate the power convertible top into next year's models.
